Nastaliq has always been more frequently used in the Persian, Turkic and the South Asian influence areas. Nastaʿlīq has been ( and still is ) employed in Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan for written poetry and as an art form. It is even more difficult to read than Naskh, although it is not as widely used as the latter.

Taliq was written with a wide reed pen obliquely cut and it looks quite different from the previous scripts. In general, it is the usage of short thin verticals along with the wide horizontals, which are usually of normal length but whose length is extended as far as possible especially at the end of the words.
